Materials for Countertops, Explained

There are more materials for countertops available today than ever before. Here is some basic information on the surfaces available at Fox Marble:

• Natural stone. Granite, marble, limestone, and travertine are just a few of the many natural stones surfaces we import from quarries around the world. Most natural stone surfaces must be regularly cleaned and sealed and are very hard, resisting chipping and cracking.

• Engineered stone. Products such as Zodiaq, Cambria, Caesarstone and Pyrolave are said to be “engineered,” or man-made. They are produced by blending a stone, such as quartz, with a resin and then fabricated into the desired shape. Engineered surfaces are also very durable, need little maintenance, and have a more uniform appearance than natural stone.

• High-Tech Materials. New products like Neolith have created a breakthrough as a high-tech porcelain slab that meets the most demanding needs of functionality and beauty for both internal and external uses.
